Coming from Minnesota most bugs were pretty lame, wasps, bees, mosquitos, lady bugs, grasshoppers, you get the picture. But here we've been exposed to things we've only heard of or seen in photos or at the zoo. Some are cool new friends, others a huge issue. Red wasps hurt, as well as fire ants. Ticks crawl around our house freely, so nightly checks are a must. But afterwards we can watch the evening firefly show. Some I welcome, some I wish would just disappear off the face of the earth.
Here's a list of what we've seen-
Red wasps, dirt/mud daubers, bumble bees, honey bees, sweat bees
Grasshoppers, crickets, Camel crickets
Wolf spiders, banana spiders, daddy long legs, brown recluse
Praying mantis, walking sticks/stick bugs
Butterflies galore! Little ones, big ones. Yellow, orange, blue, green, white, black
Fireflies/lightning bugs, June bugs, beetles my husband has no name for but black and big that bite!
Dragon flies in a rainbow of colors
Deer ticks, dog ticks, wood ticks
And many many more!
Too many some days.
